African Peace Conference - A few weeks ago, a keynote speaker scheduled for this week's African Peace & Conflict Resolution Conference at Sacramento State University, had to cancel his plans. The speaker was the Governor of Niger State in Nigeria, but in the past two weeks, there have been significant episodes of violence in northern Nigeria preventing his travel. It's an example of why the Sac State Center for Peace & Conflict Resolution continues its work. Today on Insight, we'll talk about that work with Dr. Ernest Uwazei, director of the center. And we'll hear from two of this year's Peace Awardees - Dr. Anvarali Velji, Chief of Infectious Diseases at Kaiser Permanente South & the founding Director of the Medical Residency Program; and actor John Marshall Jones who is as recognizable for his inspirational YouTube videos as his TV series on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.
Healing Arts - The personal story of the owner of Healing Arts, Diedrea Welch. In trying to cope with the grief of losing her young son, Diedrea Welch discovered resources and techniques that helped her move her life forward. Two years ago, she had an unexpected opportunity to become the owner of Healing Arts, the center that had been significant in her own journey. Now, she's on a mission to help as many others through therapuetic massage principles as she can.
